Drunk Driving Mobility Scooter
When I read this story I could not believe that the police would ever get involved in breathalysing people in wheelchairs and mobility scooters.
However I can understand their involvement in case of a mobility scooter driver causing an accident. So, I am sure that people do nip down to the pub for “couple of halves”and also there are genuine alcoholics that also drive about on their scooters.
These people do have a responsibility though? and because they are old or indeed disabled does not give them the right to think that they can drink and drive.
As responsible adults we all have to abide by the law. Even when we get to the end of our lives does not give us any excuse to drink drive.
In this guys case the law has clamped down on him and rightly so! Consequently, he will be given his punishment, what it will be goodness only knows. I suppose it may depend on his past record. Watch this space?
A Pembroke pensioner accused of drink-driving a disability mobility scooter is set to appear in court later this month.
