So, this kind of thing is starting to take off in many parts of the UK. Training is important to the scooter and wheelchair users as well as the public at large. Of course, we can often read the horrific stories about mobility scooter accidents and close encounters. In fact I can bet that we all know of a dangerous mobility scooter in our local communities.

her in Mirfield, Yorkshire, UK where I live is no exception! In fact we have more that one scooter user who appears to be out to get you. So, one is a very old lady, who insists of riding through our local mini supermarket and doing her shopping. Most locals know of her so we watch out and stay clear. Otherwise, we would be ending up in hospital!

Wild Bill Hickok

So, I have sen many close encounters as she hurtles through the supermarket isles doing her shopping. Another mobility scooter user thinks he is “Wild Bill Hickok” . Of  course instead of a horse the guy uses his mobility scooter. For people that dont know! Bill Hickok was a law enforcement agent back in the days of cowboys and Indians.

The event aimed to promote safety of mobility scooters and electric wheelchairs to current and future users. In fact the scooter guy even has a white beard and wears a sort of cowboy hat. So, his scooter looks like an “Harley Davidson” . Yes , they do make a mobility scooter and they look great. Some of the larger scooters are powered by 2 x 85 AH AGM Batteries. These batteries are very powerful and easily cope with the 8 mph Harley Davidson scooters.

So when this guys in town then we all know to stay clear. he looks like an accident waiting to happen. Both these scooter users could do with some form of training in my opinion?
